I finally made a new rotating jewelry display stand made completely out of recycled materials. And as a bonus I am going to share with you how I made it. All the pictures were taken after I made it for instructional purposes.
How to Make a Rotating Jewelry Display Stand From Recycled Materials
Materials:
1 vinyl record
1 toilet paper tube
2 small boxes (I used juice pouch boxes)
1 wrapping paper tube
Wrapping paper or other paper
Wire
Thumb Tacks
Hot Glue
Packing tape
Newspaper
Wooden stick
Tools Needed:
Box cutter
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Wire cutter
Instructions:
|
1. Hot glue toilet paper tube to center of the record. Base- done! |
|
2. Cut a hole in bottom of one of the boxes, and a hole on top and bottom of the second box. The holes should snuggly fit the wrapping paper tube through.
3. Cover boxes with wrapping paper. |
|
4. Cut an X with your knife in the paper covering your holes. Use small bits of tape to tuck the flaps inside. |
|
5. Take one piece of newspaper and crumple in you fist to make it easier to get in the box holes. When you put the newspaper in you want to have an even amount around the center hole. The newspaper simply keep the boxes from flopping around. Use the wrapping paper tube to press the newspaper the the outside leaving space for the tube to fit all the way through.
|
|
6. Place thumb tacks along the side edge on each side on both boxes. 7. Wrap wire around tacks to make horizontal lines on the boxes. |
|
8. Put the wrapping paper tube in the base (you may need to use some paper or cardboard to make a snugger fit) and make two small holes in tube where the bottom of the second box should be. The holes should snuggly fit the small wooden stick though so it sticks out on both sides. If you put the hole in the wrong place it's ok! Just try again. |
|
9. Put the box with two holeson the tube first. The stick will stop it from falling too far. Then place the box with only one hole on the tube. 10. Done! Now you can hang jewelry from the wire for your personal or business needs. |
